Who We Are
Good Karma Karaoke (GKK) is more than just a nonprofit—it’s a global community built around the transformative power of music. Founded in 2022, GKK has grown into a diverse, inclusive platform where people from all backgrounds can connect, express themselves, and foster lasting friendships.
At the heart of GKK is our mission to spread good karma, promote self-empowerment, and build a loving community that celebrates creativity, diversity, and acceptance.
Where We Started
GKK was born from a unique, 10-day Karaoke Marathon held in 2022, during a time when people sought connection in the face of isolation. What began as a spontaneous event has blossomed into an international movement, uniting karaoke enthusiasts from across the globe. From the very start, GKK has been about building connections and supporting one another through the joy of music.
What We Do
At GKK, we organize online karaoke events that bring people together to celebrate music and creativity. Our events provide a safe space where participants can express themselves freely, regardless of singing ability or background. Beyond the music, we also support various charitable causes, creating a platform where people can engage with their community while making a positive impact.
Everyone is Welcome
We welcome anyone who is willing to treat others with kindness and respect. We embrace people of all backgrounds, including different races, religions, cultures, sexual orientations, genders, ages, and identities.
Culture of Inquiry
We believe in mutual respect and constructive dialogue to make thoughtful decisions. By seeking information, questioning assumptions, and discussing ideas openly, we work together to find the best solutions for our community.

Executive Team & Staff
The GKK executive team and staff are committed to creating a supportive, welcoming space for all. Their leadership and dedication ensure that we continue to grow and serve our global community through music and connection.
Deborah (Debbie) Chang
Deborah (Debbie) Chang is the founder and Executive Director of Good Karma Karaoke (GKK). She has over 35 years of experience in government, the nonprofit sector, and the BioPharmaceutical industry, along with roles as a small business owner, author, and candidate for the Nevada State Assembly. Debbie holds a Master’s in Public Administration and Urban Planning from New York University’s Wagner School and a Bachelor’s in Anthropology from Columbia University/Barnard College.
Debbie began online karaoke to support her high school friend, Steve “DJ Purple” Hays, who lost his income during the pandemic. Initially a distraction during her 2020 Assembly campaign, it became a vital comfort after she lost her father to Covid-19. Known as the “Fairy Squad Mother” in the community, she spontaneously organized a 250-hour Karaoke Marathon over ten days in March-April 2022, which inspired her to launch Good Karma Karaoke to share the power of love and music.
