Gordon J. Vernon, CI, CT, NIC, is a well-respected Certified American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter with nearly four decades of experience. Specializing in Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) since 2009, Gordon provides communication solutions and reasonable accommodations to individuals and businesses worldwide. His expertise in platforms like Zoom makes him a sought-after interpreter for everything from small meetings to high-profile events, conferences, and technical lectures.
Beyond his professional interpreting career, music has always been central to Gordon’s life. From his involvement in church and school choirs to leading music at his father’s church, singing has been a lifelong passion. Introduced to karaoke in the early 2000s, Gordon found joy in singing for fun. During the pandemic, he joined an online Zoom karaoke group that became a supportive community and a source of connection during isolation. This diverse group, embodying the spirit of Good Karma Karaoke, continues to meet every Saturday, sharing a love for music and mutual support.
Gordon’s commitment to inclusion extends into his work, where he excels in performing arts interpretation; providing access at venues such as the Kennedy Center and National Theatre in Washington, D.C. He has also interpreted for musical icons like Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, and Madonna, demonstrating his commitment to accessibility in the arts. Originally from Citronelle, Alabama, and now based in San Juan, Puerto Rico, since 2014, Gordon remains active in various professional organizations and runs the blog *Out, Loud, & Proud*, advocating for equality and inclusive communities.
As a Member-at-Large on the Board of Directors of Good Karma Karaoke, Inc., Gordon is excited to combine his love for singing karaoke and his passion for building inclusive communities.
