Jason Griffin, Board Member at Large
Bus Operator by day, (ear musician, KJ, & introverted singer by night), Jason Griffin was born in the city of Wheeling, West Virginia. Currently living in Los Angeles, his karaoke journey started around 2013 when a friend suggested he should check out Boardwalk 11 (a bar in West L.A. where karaoke happens every day of the week). That’s where he became hooked and discovered his tribe! A very supportive & diverse community of vocalists who were also very passionate about music and singing.
Fast forward to 2020, when the pandemic shut everything down. Jason discovers District Karaoke (a competitive karaoke league in Washington DC). They were singing weekly on Thursday nights (online via Zoom)! This led to so many meaningful connections:
-The opportunity to host District Karaoke’s Zoom room regularly
-Being invited to other karaoke Zoom rooms, which led to an even bigger expansion of the tribe (and eventually traveling to meet new friends in person).
-An unexpected love connection (with Bonita Applebum) and getting engaged
Needless to say, being a part of this karaoke community is very important to Jason. Which is why he is ready and willing to serve GKK in whatever capacity he is able.
